Join us for an evening with Batia Cohen as we discuss her novel, Shura (Batia Cohen, $15.99), with introductions by Nancy Frehling. Shura is the newly translated English publication of Cohen's novel, Una Amapola entre Cactus. Shura Is the true story of a Jewish woman born in Lithuania at the beginning of the Great War, and follows her as she grows up and inevitably flees from persecution during World War II. The trials of escaping en route to a Nazi extermination camp, hiding in the Belarusian woods, and seeking refuge with the Bielski resistance group, lead her to Mexico, where she starts to rebuild her life.
